Ebisu Sando Kyoto

Ebisu Sando Kyoto has officially set up shop for good at Takashimaya basement 2. As the name implies, its specialty is no secret – the store is all about sandos, the Japanese take on sandwiches. No measly slices of ham, cheese, and lettuce here – these Japanese sandos are jam-packed with delicious fillings and usually sandwiched in between two slices of fluffy shokupan (Japanese milk bread).

Run by a Japanese owner, Ebisu Sando Kyoto’s to-go sandwiches come neatly packed in stylish boxes – no surprises there, considering that the Japanese are known for their top-notch packaging. While the prices may be a tad steeper than your regular sandwich spot, the first bite will make it all crystal clear.

Take your pick from options like Japanese egg omelette ($12.80), Ebisu pork cutlet ($16), shrimp cutlet ($13), chicken cutlet ($13.80), Japanese Wagyu minced beef cutlet sando ($18), fish fry sando ($16), and even an exclusive A5 Japanese Wagyu karubi roast beef ($28). And if you’re feeling extra fancy, throw in the soup of the day for just an additional $3.

Also, if luck is on your side, you might catch them crafting your sandwiches on the spot with a waiting time of just five minutes
