Just down from the raucous boat-quay masses, Convivial does champagne without the pretence. Founded and run by Yeo Xi Yang, who’s been named Singapore’s Best Sommelier by the Sommelier Association of Singapore, it’s everything the usual snooty wine bars aren’t: welcoming, modest and unassuming. The bar snack menu with local faves like ngoh hiang doesn’t hurt either.
