Save your precious weekends from a trip to Ipoh just to get a box of their famous egg tarts – instead, head on over to Yio Chu Kang and visit Qunkee Biscuits and Bakery’s first outlet in Singapore. This is the bakery’s first step into international expansion in its illustrious 48 year history, a significant milestone since founder Chen Zhang Han ventured into the biscuit and bakery business in 1975.

The bakery offers a variety of freshly baked tarts, pastries, and biscuits, with its signature egg tarts taking centre stage. Besides the classic Hong Kong and Portuguese egg tarts ($2.20 and $2.50 respectively), Qunkee also features more unique tarts such as chicken floss ($2.60), almond cocoa tarts ($2.60), and bamboo charcoal cheese tarts ($2.60). Those who prefer a denser pastry can opt for Qunkee’s popular kaya puff ($1.30), a crispy and flaky pastry paired with creamy and sweet kaya jam. Additionally, the bakery offers salted dou sha bing ($0.70), and wife and hubby biscuits ($1.50 each) – perfect for an afternoon snack.
While it is easy to be captivated by the fragrant golden-brown pastries, don’t miss the shelf adorned with traditional Malaysian snacks such as walnut cookies and crispy chicken biscuits.
