The Flour Department

The Flour Department

Initially a home-based business, The Flour Department takes pride in crafting innovative fusion pastries. For those who are unfamiliar with The Flour Department, its founder studied the art of pastries at a culinary school in France, and came back to Singapore to start her own business in 2015. The Flour Department opened its first physical store along Upper Cross Street in 2022, and has recently moved to Everton, where the café boasts an all-pink interior, as seen in its pink walls, countertops, and seating.

Don’t expect to always find the same bakes at The Flour Department, as the café switches up its menu every week to keep things fresh. As of writing, The Flour Department has released a line of spring-themed bakes, with its items primarily featuring the colours pink and green. This week’s menu includes a new matcha cookie bagel sandwich with a pistachio praline and burnt basque cheesecake filling ($14), and another bagel sandwich filled with matcha tangyuan, strawberry cream cheese, and dark chocolate truffles ($14). Alongside the new inclusions, popular bakes are also back this week, including the banana brownie peanut butter cake tart ($12.80) which has a soft banana cake chiffon in between the layers of peanut butter cream and dark chocolate brownies with a delicious crust at the bottom.
