Serangoon BBQ & Curry (Junction 8)

Serangoon BBQ & Curry

The popular nasi padang stall at Sin Ming has been welcoming customers since 1983, but it now has a new fast-casual restaurant at Junction 8 dishing out modern rice bowls from $8.90. The menu features a mix of time-honoured recipes from the original stall and new, bold flavours. Choose between the regular bowl (main, three sides, and chilli); petite bowl (half-portion main, two sides, and chilli); and for big eaters, the double-up (two mains, three sides, and chilli). Bestsellers from the original outlet include beef rendang, Barramundi otak, curry vegetables, begedil, house-made sambal, and more. Meanwhile, items like the fried chicken with salted egg yolk sauce and barbecue salmon add a modern touch to the menu. We like the floral coleslaw, which is a lighter version using ginger flowers for an added hint of fragrance. Serangoon BBQ & Curry is mainly a takeaway concept so everything’s served in paper bowls, but the restaurant has a sizeable dining area too for those who wish to sit down for a quick meal.
